Art & Craft: BeerArt Exhibition Opening 14/3/25
What do a painting by the exceptional artist Maria Kokkini, the new Neipa beer from Craft that was recently released for the first time, and a solo by saxophonist Tasos Fotiou, who musically accompanied the opening of the Beerart exhibition, have in common?
The answer is one: Creativity, the need, and the ability of the human mind to create new connections and compositions, and to express itself by giving shape and meaning to all kinds of creations that see the light of day for the first time.
Maria Kokkini starts from a blank canvas and constructs compositions that combine personal feelings with social criticism through her idiosyncratic perspective and chromatic polyphony.
Her forms, characteristically geometric, constitute the artist's personal signature, through which she explores the labyrinth of human existence, always looking optimistically at human weaknesses, emotions, individuality against modern massification, the model of the modern woman and man in today's society.
The Craft brewer composes and executes a new original recipe each time and produces a small miracle through the ancient art of brewing, starting from humble and earthy materials.
The saxophonist breaks the silence and creates, improvising, a musical proposal that is original and unique in the way it is played.
The common denominator is creation, which breaks through zero and non-existence and proposes new shapes and compositions that are an expression of the creator but acquire their own entity that surpasses even the creator himself and becomes part of the universal cultural heritage.
It takes art to paint something original and tasteful, overcoming the anxiety of the blank canvas. It takes art to compose a complex, unique, distinctive, and enjoyable beer starting from simple materials. It takes art to form a musical phrase on the saxophone that captivates the listener. It takes art even for small everyday things that we all engage in and like to put our energy into, which express and satisfy us. We are all small creators and compose with mastery small or large creations, designing our own story, our own life.
On 14/3/25, we gathered at the Contemporary Space Athens to inaugurate the exhibition titled BeerArt, which presents the work of the last 7 years of Maria Kokkini and constitutes her 17th solo exhibition.
In essence, however, it was an optimistic celebration of creativity. Saxophonist Tasos Fotiou and the Craft beers that flowed abundantly elevated all the senses.
The imaginative and optimistic paintings of the artist generously distributed inspiration, optimism, and encouragement for all of us to seek our own original expression, to design our own story in the days we have on this wonderful planet.
And Craft beer charmed us with its creations and sent us exactly the same message: Craft your Story!...
